Data Value Manager

The Enterprise Information Management team of Thales in the Netherlands is looking for an experienced Data Value Manager to further professionalize the data portfolio.

The Enterprise Information Management (EIM) team is a central team facilitating data management, business reporting and analytics needs of the Thales Netherlands organisation. The team consists of different data experts who deliver relevant and adequate data and information solutions in close collaboration with business stakeholders.

As a Data Value Manager you will be translating the EIM vision and objectives into strategy and realisation. The Data Value Manager serves as a point of contact for data related topics and will work closely with Business and Functional area leadership. You are responsible for gathering the business requirements and align these with the strategic initiatives of the organisation.
As a Data Value Manager you will be in contact with different people in different roles on various levels of the organisation – from tactical to strategic. You will gather the information from relevant stakeholders, seeking to understand and document data needs within specific business domains and processes. One of the focus areas will be on change management and you will serve as a sparring partner on a strategic level.
You are responsible for the qualification and valuation of data initiatives to drive value and growth. Therefore you will be the the owner of the data/EIM roadmap and are the driving person in identifying and launching new products and stimulating their use.
You will report to the Chief Data Officer and will support the CDO in drafting the NL vision and objectives.
Typical activities for this position on a daily basis are:
- Drive the business for defining and determining business KPIs;
- Understand business processes and data used within those to make inventory of data requirements and determine and define how data flows through the organisation;
- Provide company-wide definition of the data portfolio and map the elements to specific systems/applications, as well as specific domains/processes;
- Work with others to generate innovations and ideas to further exploit the full potential of their data;
- Coordinate data efforts with the relevant stakeholders – business process owners and subject matter experts;
- Steers the EIM product owner for transferring the business stakeholders needs into Business Intelligence requirements;
- Oversee the delivery of data initiatives within their scope by driving change and engagement, managing data product owner and delivery of benefits and value;
- Align with Thales Group’s data initiatives;
- Act as a bridge between business, Data and IT.
About you
As a person you are a communicator, friendly, able to make a rapport with people, loyal and trustworthy. You have strong analytical and stakeholder management skills. You are able to quickly grasp the big picture and dive into details where needed. You are a quick learner and willing to learn and improve constantly. You can act independently, but also join in the team efforts as a team-player. Furthermore you:
- Are you able to approach a business question from different angles (hugger);
- Hold an Academic degree (preferably Business & IT, Computer science, Information management).
- Have several years of experience in similar positions.
- Are able to manage contradicting stakes in the organisation and know how to negotiate between opposing parties and come to a common understanding and agreements.
- Are a good listener, can reflect critically and ask thorough questions, also when the message is not clear enough.
- Are able to deal with high-level concepts, as well as hands-on tasks.
- Have good communication skills and can easily adapt to different audiences.
- Have excellent presentation skills; able to convey the message to the wide range of audiences.
- Have a good proficiency in English, both verbally and written.
- Have experience with working agile.
- Are a collaborative team player.
- Are a self-starter.
- Have knowledge and experience with data analytics (is a plus).
- Are not technophobic and can easily adopt new applications and various (emerging) technologies.
